THE SHORT ANSWER

Choose the same server for the progress and friends you want to keep together. The official FAQ confirms cross-platform progress within a server, separate data across servers, and automatic PS5 assignment from PSN region.

FIELD NOTE 01

Choose around the character you want to keep

If you already have a character, record its server first. If your group is starting together, exchange the server label before creating characters. These are Atlas planning steps based on the official data-sharing boundary. A shared account email alone is not enough to make characters on different servers the same save.

PS5 adds a constraint: the game assigns its server from the PSN account’s registered region. A mixed-platform group should confirm that assignment before treating PC region selection as the final decision. Use the mapping in the official FAQ or PlayStation Support for the particular PSN region.

FIELD NOTE 02

The three published openings represent one instant

The launch announcement lists America, Apac and Europe using different local date-and-time presentations. They are equivalent openings, not a one-day early-access advantage for America. Convert your own time zone from the published offset rather than comparing only the calendar date.

FIELD NOTE 03

Work through a PC-to-PS5 example

Suppose a player has a PC character on Apac and wants to continue on PS5. First confirm which server the PSN region assigns. If it also assigns Apac, follow the first-login account-linking procedure. If it assigns another server, linking is not a documented transfer solution: the FAQ explicitly rules out cross-server progress sharing.

This example explains the published rule; it is not a live account test or a promise that support can move the character. Resolve the mismatch before the console’s one-time existing-Pass popup. See the linking decision tree for that step.

FIELD NOTE 04

Diagnose a missing character or failed group setup

Compare the actual server labels, platform accounts and linked Pass before reinstalling. For multiplayer, also compare the intended mode and any error shown; a shared server does not by itself prove that every activity has identical entry conditions.

If those details match, record the timestamp, client version and exact failure text for official support. These are recommended diagnostic notes, not an asserted fix. This page has no live capacity, queue or latency feed, so it does not name a fastest or least-crowded server. Choose from the documented account constraints first and assess actual connection quality separately.

Common questions

Does choosing America unlock the game a day early?

No. The three published times convert to the same instant.

Can I merge progress from two servers?

The reviewed FAQ says their data is independent and does not describe a merge or cross-server progress-sharing route.
