THE SHORT ANSWER

The official tree connects Emberpup to Flameruff, then branches into Scorchhowl and Inferlupa. Scorchhowl is a DPS reference; Inferlupa is a BREAK reference. Choose a role to investigate before looking for an evolution recipe.

FIELD NOTE 01

Read the branch before choosing a build

The Emberpup record shows two destinations after Flameruff. This is an actual branch in the published tree, rather than a list of stronger names arranged by preference. Both destinations deserve separate collection notes. The tree does not supply a level, item or action requirement in its condition list, so this guide cannot turn that connection into a guaranteed evolution walkthrough.

Start with a practical question: do you want to investigate charged fire damage, or a basic-attack-driven BREAK setup? That distinction is supported by the destination records and remains useful even before the exact acquisition conditions are documented.

FIELD NOTE 02

Scorchhowl: budget for a charged skill

Scorchhowl lists Burn Breaker with power 88 and cost 30. Its description says maximum charge consumes remaining EP, adding 25% damage for each additional 10 EP consumed. That makes the remaining resource pool relevant to the decision to charge. The printed cost alone does not describe the maximum-charge expenditure.

A sensible practice exercise is to compare an ordinary use with a maximum-charge use while recording EP before and after. Keep enemy and character conditions consistent. Do not call the larger printed power on Falling Star a DPS ranking: animation time, availability and target behavior are not measured here.

FIELD NOTE 03

Inferlupa: count attacks and select the payoff

Inferlupa's Full Energy activates after eight basic attacks and enhances the next skill. Unbroken Flameruff Spirit normally ricochets five times, or seven with Full Energy. Its BREAK-efficiency effect stacks by 10% up to three stacks for 20 seconds. Hunting Pack instead adds a clone under the same state.

This suggests a different learning loop: count basic attacks, confirm the state, then deliberately choose the enhanced skill. It is an editorial practice suggestion based on the text, not a tested optimal rotation. Compare the records if you want to inspect the entire skill lists side by side.

FIELD NOTE 04

Keep form hunting separate from branch choice

Scorchhowl also has named forms, including Highland and Thunderstorm. A form entry is not itself another step between Flameruff and Scorchhowl. Record the exact form and source when comparing elements or habitats; a blank habitat does not establish an evolution-only acquisition rule.

Common questions

Is Inferlupa simply a Scorchhowl form?
