Start with identity and the selected form
The Index includes unusual identifiers such as 9997 and 9998, and its regular sequence is not continuous. Treat the number as a lookup key. In Atlas, searching 93 or 093 reaches Malevsera; a larger number does not mean a stronger or rarer creature.
Next check the selected form. Basic Emberpup is Fire, while Highland Emberpup is Fire/Rock. Both belong to the same species, but the form selection changes the context of the page. Share the form-specific URL when you want someone else to inspect the same record.

Separate the three kinds of badge
Elements, roles and stages answer different questions. Elements describe the entry’s type labels. A role groups its contribution. A stage records a growth label. None of these replaces the skill text, and a stage badge alone does not specify how to evolve.

Use filters to ask a real question
To look for a Water creature with a BREAK role, select Water and BREAK. Within one filter group, multiple selections broaden the results; between groups, the conditions narrow them. A matching alternate form is identified so you can open that form rather than mistake the base card for the match.
The query lives in the URL, which makes a shortlist shareable. Use a filter for discovery, then inspect each candidate’s skills before deciding. A list of matching labels is not a recommended team: two entries may satisfy the same filter while requiring very different play styles.
Read missing and unusual values conservatively
A blank habitat is not a statement that a creature cannot be found in the wild. A skill with zero Might can still provide healing or utility. A source can also contain a suspicious number; that deserves a source check rather than a silent correction.
When a decision depends on one value, open the source link on the record. Keep the selected form and review date alongside any notes you make. That small habit prevents a later official update from turning an old screenshot into an apparently current rule.
