If linking says the email is already used, or returns a parameter error, stop creating replacement accounts. Check your sign-in method and whether a character already exists; preserve progress and ask official support to resolve an identity conflict.

An email address and a Google login are not interchangeable
The September 15 reward notice explicitly directs returning testers to email-and-code login rather than a third-party sign-in. The same visible Gmail address therefore does not establish that two login buttons select the intended test identity.
Make a private note of which method you used on the website, in the beta and in the live game. Mark where your desired character is visible. This checklist is Atlas advice for identifying the state, not a procedure for merging accounts.

Choose the branch that protects your character
Before creating a character, the newer notice identifies Login Screen → Account Center → Account Management → Email as the linking route. If a character already exists and you want to keep it, the notice directs you to support.
The notice also describes a relinking branch that accepts losing the current character. It should not be used as a routine remedy for an error message; this guide prioritizes the preserve-progress branch.
| Your state | Next step |
|---|---|
| No character yet | Review the official pre-character linking instructions |
| Character to keep | Ask support before unlinking or relinking |
| Email conflict or parameter error | Save the message and identify both login methods |
| Console first-login popup skipped | Use the console-specific rules; do not apply Steam steps |

What the message does not prove
We found player reports of an email conflict and parameter error, but no publisher notice defining a universal cause for either exact message. A failed link is not proof that your character has been deleted.
Do not infer that clearing cookies, reinstalling, unlinking a platform or deleting an account will free the email. Those actions affect different systems, and this guide cannot authorize or promise an account merge.
Prepare one private support request
State that you want to preserve your existing character. Provide the platform, server, character identifier through the private support channel, original test sign-in method and exact linking error. Ask which identity owns the character and what recovery route is available.
Do not post account identifiers or verification codes in public troubleshooting threads. Use the official support destination linked from the launch notice.
